Position Details

General Statement

KUSM-TV is a public broadcasting station owned and operated by Montana State University. Together with KUFM-TV, located at the University of Montana in Missoula, KUSM operates as MontanaPBS – a state-wide public television service. KUSM also services MSU-Bozeman and the Media & Theatre Arts academic department by providing a real-world complete television environment for laboratory and internship coursework, and also provides complete television production services to on-campus departments, other public agencies, and to the private sector.

Reporting to the Membership Manager, the Office and Customer Service Coordinator helps support viewer, donor, and office services for MontanaPBS. As part of the development team, this person is essential in maintaining good relationships with customers, donors, and staff.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide front-line customer service to members through answering incoming phone calls, greeting and assisting in-person office visitors, and through responding to email inquiries. This often requires conducting research and communicating information to customers and staff, under indirect supervision. Examples include, but are not limited to, fundraising activities, program choices and changes, social networking messaging, special event activities, technical issues, etc.
  • Perform office management and administrative duties including purchasing supplies, maintaining office equipment and systems, preparing large mailings, running database processes and otherwise supporting the Development staff.
  • Enter data including processing credit cards and other database record maintenance.
  • Place orders for items given as pledge premiums and manage deliveries, inventory and distribution of items to members.
  • Ensure office and phone coverage during business hours, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., M-F except during a daily lunch break.
  • Provide assistance as needed in hiring, training and directing support staff such as student employees.
  • Assist with developing policies and procedures that insure compliance. Create and maintain a policies and procedures manual as needed.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Demonstrated general office experience which includes reception, word processing, record keeping and customer services duties.
  2. Demonstrated customer service experience including in-person, telephone and electronic forms of communication.
  3. Progressively responsible experience using personal computers and word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database and email software.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Experience with using and maintaining a relational database.
  2. Experience with member-based non-profit organizations.
  3. Experience in commercial or non-commercial broadcasting.
