Position Details

General Statement

Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide non tenurable level instruction and/or related functions. Applications are accepted on a continual basis (unless otherwise indicated) and will be maintained in the pool for two years. After two years, candidates need to re-submit materials for continued consideration.

The department or program search committees or hiring authority will review and evaluate the submitted application materials. Applicants will be notified if their application is being retained in the non tenure track faculty hiring pool.

Appointments can be full or part time and vary in duration from a semester to an academic year, depending on the specific needs of the particular campus. Salary is dependent on experience, number of courses taught, and duration of appointment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Non tenure track faculty members of the College of Nursing are expected to be engaged in teaching and service or outreach. Each faculty member’s relative emphasis on teaching and service is individually determined to serve the mission and responsibilities of the college and campus and to best utilize the strengths and interests of that faculty member, while recognizing the available resources of the College. Faculty members are expected to maintain a continuous program of professional development that includes attendance and participation at professional meetings and keeping current with the literature in their discipline.

The College’s four-campus system may require faculty members to travel among the four campuses for faculty meetings. Faculty members must also travel to clinical agencies where teaching or service occurs. Full time faculty are required to travel to Bozeman at least two times per year for college wide, general faculty meetings.

Each faculty member must meet and abide by all requirements for the practice of professional nursing for the State of Montana as set forth by the State Board of Nursing Rules and Regulations. In addition, faculty members are governed by University and College of Nursing policies and procedures, general professional nursing standards, and the specific requirements of clinical agencies in which they conduct teaching, research or service activities.

While functioning in the teaching role in clinical agencies, the faculty member must meet all health standards set forth by that particular agency and, at a minimum, meet communicable disease control standards set forth in the College’s Policy & Procedure Manual.

Represents both the College of Nursing and the University and, thus, must act in a manner which reflects positively on the College and the University.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. License to practice Nursing in Montana.
  2. Masters degree in Nursing.
  3. Successful work experience in nursing – preference for experience relevant to Current campus requirements, as above.
  4. Demonstrated clinical competence in the area of teaching interest.
  5. Demonstrated ability working in a collegial team environment.
  6. Demonstrated experience effectively using information technology to prepare and present instructional materials.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Experience teaching college and/or adult learners.
  2. Use of technology beyond basic computer skills.
  3. Use of simulation technology for teaching-learning.
