Position Details

General Statement

Testing Services provides a wide range of academic testing and professional certification examinations to students and the public at Renne library on the MSU Bozeman campus.

The testing site requires a senior staff/on-duty manager for all testing staff support and oversight of all testing functions and operations. S/he is responsible for institutional compliance with secure testing site protocol.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary duties include leadership, supervisory responsibilities and authority to make necessary decisions to allow for quality testing experience for examinees at the testing site. The testing center is an interactive, high traffic, customer-oriented service unit within the MSU Bozeman campus. The Assistant Director is expected to lead and carry out management responsibilities.

With Director’s indirect supervision, this position trains staff, supervises staff, and approves staff work schedules.

Completes certification training and passes exams for test administration as required by testing companies which entails studying manuals, reviewing online tutorials and attending training webinars.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. A record of progressively responsible work experience as a program, operations, or business manager for a small complex organization.
  2. Experience collecting, managing, and reporting data using strong analytical skills.
  3. Successful experience supervising services in a customer oriented environment.
  4. Demonstrated experience in MS Office Suite, to include setting up and working with spreadsheets and be comfortable changing computer settings, installing software, etc.
  5. Demonstrated experience interpreting, explaining, and applying policies and procedures to a diverse group of individuals.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Knowledge of testing programs and procedures, including computer-based testing, accommodated, testing, placement testing, etc.
  2. Experience working with students with disabilities ensuring institutional compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the ADA Act of 1990
  3. Experience interacting and communicating effectively with students in a higher education setting.

  • Be a creative thinker who can also handle practical details.
  • Lead and supervise testing operations as needed during open testing hours using sound judgment.
  • Work with a high degree of accuracy with minimal supervision.
  • Independently organize and prioritize multiple work priorities for self and for scheduled staff as needed.
  • Represent MSU Testing Services in a professional manner.
Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
  • Coverage for Saturday and weekday evening test administration will be required.
  • Certification to administer some tests is required.
