Position Details

General Statement

Shared Services is a centralized team that provides accounting and human resources support to numerous departments across the Bozeman campus.

Shared Services performs a wide variety of business processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, payroll changes, employee recruiting and appointments on behalf of our client departments. This position also collaborates closely with the central accounting and human resources teams.

The Accounting Analyst will report directly to the Shared Services Operations Manager and will be responsible for supporting multiple departments.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide high level fiscal management of diverse and significant funds across multiple departments.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable for diverse set of clients.
  • Generate monthly financial reports and perform ad hoc research and analyses in response to manager or client department requests.
  • Collaborate with budget analysts and client department staff to create and monitor annual budgets.
  • Initiate on-line payroll changes, verify payroll transactions and support department recruiting.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Progressively responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience with budgeting, analysis, reconciliations, reporting and/or processing accounts payable/receiveable transactions.
  2. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel to analyze and summarize data
  3. Demonstrated customer (internal or external) support experience
  4. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Experience analyzing financial results to assist managers with business decisions
  2. Experience developing annual financial budgets for a department or larger organization
  3. Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel (e.g., parsing, pivot tables, macros, database)
