Position Details

General Statement

Multiple positions available for various levels of Human Resource Associates. Placement dependent upon level of experience and specialized knowledge.

The HR Associate administers a variety of human resource processes for client groups provided by HR, performs special project work, maintains a variety of HR reports, and performs related duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate employee recruitment and hiring process including completion of new hire paperwork, workflow management through online recruiting system (Select Suite) to include metrics.
  • Coordinate compensation administration processes and paperwork, communicating and collaborating with HR colleagues and client departments.
  • Generate and/or create a variety of reports from the HR systems for HR and client departments use.
  • Complete and/or review electronic personnel action forms (EPAFs) for payroll changes.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Progressively responsible administrative and/or operational experience in a fast paced, high level customer service environment.
  2. Demonstrated competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, email and internet. Microsoft Office software preferred.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Human resources experience in one or more areas, certification or Bachelor’s degree in human resources (or related field) or equivalent education and experience.
  2. Experience in one or more of the following specialist areas: compensation, recruitment, benefits, or payroll
  3. Successful experience providing customer service for a diverse group of internal and external constituents in a complex organizational environment.
  4. Demonstrated experience delivering training and presenting to small and large groups.
  5. Demonstrated experience gathering and compiling information to analyze and evaluate complex matters.
The Successful Candidate Will
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple offices, co-workers, managers, students and applicants in a team-oriented environment both in person and over the phone; represents the University in a positive, professional manner.
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of MSU employee human resources processes.
  • Embrace and adapt quickly to changes in priorities, processes and work environment with a positive attitude.
  • Be highly organized with great attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work product.
  • Be forward-looking, able to anticipate problems and proactively address them.
  • Demonstrate excellent professional interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple administrative tasks and priorities within established procedures and within required deadlines.
  • Propose continuous improvement to process within area of responsibility.
